Hurricane Matthew Update #1

Waiting and watchingAs like everyone else in the Southeast U.S. we are watching closely the forecast track of Hurricane Matthew.    As of early this morning (10/5/16) Hurricane Matthew is rated a category 3 hurricane with winds in excess of 115 MPH and is located south of the Bahamas.  The storm's projected path shows the storm moving up the east coast of the U.S. moving parallel to the coast off of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.Image result for hurricane matthewOvernight forecast tracks updated the storm movement to move dramatically to the east once it approaches the North Carolina coast.  If that track holds true the impacts for Sandbridge and the Virginia Beach area will be minimal. As you are well aware the ground in the area is still saturated from the torrential rains received in the area just a week ago when more than 12 inches of rain fell.  If this storm becomes a strong rain event for our area the impact could be significant.Residents and property owners are urged to stay tuned to weather forecasts, but at this time it is business as usual for us in Sandbridge.
